LASEMO, WHERE SUSTAINABILITY
RHYMES WITH FESTIVITIES

If LaSemo means “the seed” in Esperanto, it’s because we want to grow ideas, initiatives and another way of thinking about events in our festival.

Since 2008, our sustainable commitments, pioneers in the sector, allow us to welcome you in a bubble of escape that does good… to our festival-goers, and around them.

SOME EXAMPLES OF OUR COMMITMENTS TAKEN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

A MULTIPLE AND PLURAL CULTURAL OFFER

LaSemo is diversity in the cultural landscape with various artistic expressions. Special attention is given to young emerging talents and Belgian artists… and committed.

PRESERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Our credo: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle. This principle applies to all our actions: waste management, water, energy, scenography, communication, food, mobility and many others. However, there is no such thing as a zero-carbon event: we therefore offset our footprint by planting trees via the NGO Graines de Vie.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL

Making our festival accessible means creating new experiences and contributing to the human, social and civic development of everyone. In 2012, LaSemo became the most accessible outdoor festival in the Walloon-Brussels Federation: notably thanks to PRM accessibility, concerts translated into sign language and the development of services for families.

LIVING TOGETHER AND CITIZEN PARTICIPATION

Our mission: to allow the meeting between all generations through an open and benevolent festival. Our 80 year-round volunteers and 1000 event volunteers are committed to building a more sustainable and respectful world.

HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE FOOD

The foodtrucks present at LaSemo are subject to a demanding sustainable charter, must offer vegetarian menus and child portions. A market of local producers will delight our festival-goers every day. Since last year, we have also introduced reusable dishes.

SOFT AND ALTERNATIVE MOBILITY

Mobility remains the most impacting item of an event: all the carbon assessments prove it. Our group bike departures, monitored bike parking, carpooling modules and shuttles are trying to do something… in the right direction.

AWARENESS AND EDUCATION THROUGH ACTION

LaSemo is a place of sharing, conviviality and positive energies where inspiring people to act on their own scale is also a priority. The ambassadors of a more sustainable world, whether they are speakers or artists, will prove to you that it is possible, for those who pass through the doors of our festival, to build together a better tomorrow.

Each year LaSemo goes further in reducing and reusing waste. In 2022, Emball’Agir should help us in this process by supporting some initiatives.
